» Dodabetta Peak, Ooty :

This
peak with an altitude of 2623 m is the highest point of the district.
Dodabetta Peak, 10 km from Ooty, offers the spectacular view of surrounding
natural beauty. Tourists always keep their cameras prepared to capture each
and every corner of the mind-blowing scenery. Nilgiri Hills and green
covered valleys are not only the priceless reservoir of bio-diversity but
also a treat to the eyes. If weather is friendly, you can also have a view
of the plains of Coimbatore and plateaus of Mysore, situated far away from
here. A telescopic house is also run by Tamil Nadu Tourism Development
Corporation for this the tourists.
» Botanical Garden :
This lush garden, spread in more than 55 acres, was laid out by Marquis of
Tweedale. Well-maintained lush lawns and fern house have a range of
flowering bushes and plants. Some rarefied tree species are bark tree,
monkey puzzle tree and a 20 million year old fossilized tree and an
Italian-style garden are the major highlights of this garden. Some events
are held annually here. A flower show, Summer Shows and an exhibition of
rare plant species are held in month of May. You can also have a glimpse of
tribal life of Todas, which reside in the east of the garden.
» Ooty Lake :
John Sullivan, first collector of Ooty, constructed this lake. It was
originally intended to be an irrigation tank, but it was dredged out later.
This famous tourists spot offer the boating facilities on a variety of boats
available at the boat house. An amusement park in a nearby mini garden and a
toy train are other highlights of the lake.
» Kodanadu's View Point :
This tourist spot is placed at the eastern edge of the Nilgiri Hills. It is
at a distance of 18 km from Kotagiri. The tourists can have a better look of
surrounding natural beauty at the peak. If you visit this place only once,
you will never forget beautiful scenes of landscape. You can see the River
Moyar flowing below the hills.
» Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary :

One
of the major wildlife sanctuaries in the state, Mudumalai Wildlife
Sanctuary, touches its boundaries with Bandipur National Park in Karnataka
and Wayanad Sanctuary in Kerala. Wildlife tourists keep thronging this
reservoir of flora and fauna throughout the year. Numerous rare species of
animals are its prized possession.
» Lamb's Rock :
This another place of interest around Ooty is just 9 km from Coonoor.
Lamb's Rock offers the spectacular views of Coimbatore plains and tea
estates. You will always cherish each moment spent here, in the lap of
mother nature.
» Masinagudi :
This exotic hilltop is just 35 km from Ooty. Road travel to Masinagudi is
really thrilling as the way is full of sharp hairpin bends. You can also
find elephants as a pleasant surprise while your journey to this erstwhile
elephant corridor.
